Media Center Conflict Hello Dr. Bob,
I am the one who talked to you when you were in Jackson Tuesday (May 15, 2007) concerning the installation of Quickbooks 2007. I told you it would not load and you suggested I try another CD. I did this and received the same message. So I went to their website and found a patch to download when I received that message. I did that and it still would not install. I went to uninstall programs and clicked on repair files and it tried again, with no success. I tried two or three times and finally called technical support. After another attempt, the technician asked what operating system I had and I told them Windows XP Media Center. The technician told me that Quickbooks would not run on Windows XP Media Center and Intuit did not support Quickbooks on Media Center. He was very nice and finally emailed me a patch that somehow allowed it to run on my laptop which I bought from Best Buy and runs Windows XP Media Center. However, he said he was not supposed to do that, but since I had tried so hard, he would do it. It is now running on my laptop, but I just wonder for how long. I could not find anything in the Quickbooks packaging that says it does not run on Windows XP Media Center systems. Since most laptops and many desktops purchased at Best Buy & Circuit City run Media Center, it might be a good idea for you to let your attendees know that they will have a problem installing Quickbooks 2007 on these systems. It might save somebody a lot of grief. |
